Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

This may be the most interesting, unique juniper. It grows in unexpected, twisted ways, creating a living sculpture in green. It generally grows about 15 to 20 feet tall and about 10 to 15 feet wide, though in time it might grow larger. Foliage is dark green, the bark is reddish and peels in interesting strips, and the berries are whitish-blue, turning a violet brown as they mature and are very prolific and prominent. The berries are enjoyed by birds. It has Previously listed as J. c. 'Torulosa.'
Makes an attractive accent or screen. Slow to medium growth. Prefers full sun and moderate to low moisture. Will grow in nearly any soil type, as long as it is well-drained, including sandy, gravelly, and clay soils. Tolerates heat, including reflective heat. Drought tolerant once established; requires only periodic watering. Avoid shearing, as it will ruin its interesting, twisted, knarly character.
