Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

‘Pendula’ is a weeping form of Japanese Red pine that may be grown in several different ways including (1) sprawling over the ground without support as a ground cover; (2) draped over a wall with branches cascading downward; or (3) grafted to a standard with branches weeping downward from the point of the graft or staked with branches weeping. Mature shape and height depend upon how plant is grown. It typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall over the first 10 years. Dark green needles are long and give it a fluffy look.
Grow in well drained soil and full sun, though in our hot summers it appreciates a little mid-day shade. Avoid shearing, as that will make it hard and stiff.
