Fix leaking sprinklers, valves, and pipes.

  • Description

  • Notes

'Scanlon' has superb red autumn colour and a reasonably narrow, upright habit. The leaves are lush green in the summer months, turning to rich orange and red in the autumn before falling. The narrow habit makes this cultivar more suitable than the other Acer rubrum listed here for small gardens with limited space. Grows 30 to 40 feet tall and 12 to 15 feet wide. Scanlon, like other red maples, has tiny red spring flowers followed by red, winged seedpods called sumara. May also be listed as A. r. Bowhall.
Grow in nearly any soil as long as it is well drained. Prefers loamy soils. Grows in full sun but will tolerate partial shade. When planted in lawns that are over watered, it may become shallow rooted.
