Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

Jose Select was chosen for its tall, stiffly upright ornamental habit and its straw yellow seed stalks that are not flattened by heavy snows. Makes quite the impression in the winter garden. Grows 4 to 5 feet tall and only 18 to 24 inches wide, making it well suited for planting in narrow areas or where a strong vertical accent is desired. Introduced by High Country Gardens in 2002.
Grows in a wide range of soils, including highly alkaline clay soils. Will tolerate periodically wet soils, but also thrives in a lower-water garden. Grow in full sun. Cut back in late winter to early spring. Deer resistant.
